The complete education program for your dog

Join us for our Positive Dog Training program. We work with you and your dog to learn dog-friendly communication and environmental management in an engaging setting. Our classes are designed to help you and your dog succeed.

Obedience Training

Obedience Training is rewarding or praising a dog when it does something you want it to do or like and using positive corrective techniques when he does something you don’t want him to do or like. Obedience Training should be a way of communicating to your dog in such a way that it understands the commands you give, and that those commands have meaning. It must also promote and establish a proper relationship between you and your dog.

Dogs need to be taught and shown how to behave and live among us in an acceptable manner. By employing techniques which work in harmony with a dog’s natural instincts and drives, you will be providing parameters and rules where the dog can thrive and be happy as well as develop and enhance its personality. As with any healthy relationship, you must begin to develop a proper relationship with your dog, based on mutual understanding and trust.

Behavioral Training

Like every living creature, a dog is born with an instinctive natural behaviour that enables it to live life in a happy comfortable manner amongst its kind. They do this by following strict codes of conduct which they acquire by natural instinct or learning from their peers.

Your dog is a social pack animal. The way it socialises and relates to other dogs, people, and other animals in its life is much different than how we human beings relate to each other. Understanding this is the key in ensuring your dog will have a healthy, happy and stable relationship with those around it

The cause of the vast majority of dogs that display unwanted behaviour is usually due to confusion. Confusion in what position the dog thinks he is in the pack,(the owner and family). Depending on that position, the dog will display its instinctive responsibilities which can lead to unwanted behaviour in our human social world in which it shares. The Top Dog or Leader makes all the important decisions in the pack and takes all the responsibility for the pack’s safety and survival. When you begin to develop a more natural relationship with your dog through understanding its drives and instincts which are specific to its species and become its Leader, then you will see positive change in your dogs behaviour. Your dog will start respecting you like it never has before, he will suddenly begin to respond to your commands, they will suddenly have meaning in them. Your dog will bond to you much more closely and will actively yearn to please you. When you learn how to replicate the way other dogs communicate with your dog, you will immediately begin to make progress.

Agilty Training

Joining our Dog Agility Program is not only a great fun thing to do together with your dog but it also promotes bone health, muscle development and is perfect for dogs that are overweight, have excessive energy or the dog that loves to play and be also physically challenged.

Our agility course is not only great exercise for your dog but also for you. Running through the course with your dog as a team is a great way to build up a better bonding and fulfilling relationship with your dog.

One on One Training

Unless you are going to train your dog for a specific type of competition, eg. Fly Ball or Agility, group classes are generally not very effective. Many people enrol in group classes because they think it makes good socialisation and interaction with other dogs. It does, but as long as your dog was with a litter from six weeks of age to eight weeks, the dog would have already learned proper submissive and dominant behaviour. Unlike children dogs don’t need years of supervision and socialisation to learn these skills.

Of course these skills are vital to a dog’s healthy development but they can learn these just as easily from you taking the dog down to the supermarket, café or beach. You don’t have to spend a lot of money enrolling in a course to do that.

By having One To One sessions, the instructor’s entire time is focused on the relationship between the owner and their dog. This allows both owner and dog to learn quickly without any distractions. Added to this you are training your dog in its natural environment, (home) and without the company of other dogs as distraction. You hopefully can see the real benefits. In a class the instructor’s expertise and personal attention has to be divided by the number of dogs and owners present.

The amount of progress you can make by working with a qualified dog trainer can be phenomenal. For example, in less than ten minutes, you can take a dog that has been pulling on its leash for years and get him to pay attention to you and keep the leash LOOSE.
